I want to encourage you to get up every day and ask, “God, what do you have for me today?” Start listening for God’s appointments and assignments. Look for the opportunities he has for you right now, right here, today. You will be surprised at what he will bring to you.
The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Many times we are in such a hurry throughout our day that we don’t even recognize the very opportunities God is placing before us:
- A person in the grocery story that needs a smile.
- A co-worker that needs a word of encouragement.
- A neighbor that needs a helping hand.
- Your family who needs some uninterrupted time with you.
- Or someone sent to encourage you and help you.
I was in the hair salon one day when a lady told me that she had enjoyed my teaching CD series on fulfilling your destiny.
“Now that I have you in person,” she asked, “tell me, what is my destiny?”
That was a loaded question! What surprised me even more was how I responded. “You are walking in it right now. If your trust is in God, he is directing your steps today.”
It’s true, though this idea took me a while to grasp. But not because it’s complicated. Destiny is not an ethereal ideal that cannot be understood. It is simply allowing God to direct your steps daily, no matter what situation you may find yourself. It is a knowing that God has a plan for your life that is bigger than you. It is trusting God to fulfill that plan as you daily look to and acknowledge him.
